Oil production is one of the most widespread activities in the area around Lake Garda, where there are three types of DOP oil combined in a single consortium. The Consortium for the Protection of PDO Garda Extra Virgin Olive Oil, in fact, includes producers and operators in the supply chain of three regions, namely Lombardy, Trentino Alto Adige and Veneto, and four provinces, namely Brescia, Mantua, Trento and Verona. The three types of oil produced in the area, therefore, are Garda Orientale DOP, from the provinces of Verona and Mantua, Bresciano DOP and Trentino DOP.
The Garda extra virgin olive oil, in the predominant Casaliva, Frantoio and Leccino varieties, is obtained from the culture of olive trees located at the northernmost latitude in the world. This particular situation is due to Lake Garda which creates, on the slopes of the Alps, a Mediterranean microclimate that makes Garda extra virgin olive oil unique and unmistakable.
Centuries-old olive trees and unspoiled nature make this oil a must for anyone who wants to bring home a unique souvenir!
