HISTORY

Albisano is a hamlet of Torri del Benaco and lies at a height of 309 metres above sea level on the slopes of Monte Baldo.

The splendid view of the lake from above, surrounded by green nature, makes it unique and relaxing.

This area was already inhabited in Roman times and experienced prosperity thanks to the numerous springs and watercourses that made agriculture flourish. While Torri del Benaco over the centuries was mainly inhabited by fishermen, merchants and soldiers, Albisano developed numerous hamlets populated mainly by farmers. This explains the presence of centuries-old olive groves, forests and vineyards.

Of its picturesque hamlets isolated in the countryside, we can recall some such as 'Sorti', an area granted to war veteran legionaries assigned by lottery, 'Brè' the area cultivated with vineyards and cereals. Bardino' and 'Coi' were once fortified villages, while 'Locrino' was inhabited by the 'Locrini', indicating deforested land.

'Sevino' and 'Campino' were abandoned at the end of the 18th century following a plague.

Today, the village is mainly gathered around the square and the parish church of San Martino.
