Chiaretto wine is a rosé, among the first Italian wines to have obtained the recognition of the denomination of controlled origin, on July 21, 1967.
Every year it’s celebrated in Bardolino with the Palio del Chiaretto and in Moniga del Garda with the Italia in Rosa event.
This wine has been linked to Lake Garda since the nineteenth century, but only in the last 5-10 years has it experienced a production surge that has doubled its production, reaching more than 10 million bottles
Chiaretto Doc is a light pink wine tending to cherry, with a balanced scent of flowers and fruit, with a dry, harmonious and savory flavor. It is a wine pleasant in color, smell and palate, light in structure and elegant.
Today, lighter-colored wines with citrus and floral tones are preferred to the more structured and intense colors, linked to the local tradition, which prevail over the fruity notes of cherry and peach of the more traditional rosés.
The Chiaretto is perfect to accompany appetizers based on salami, fish or vegetables. Very suitable for Italian summer dishes such as caprese, ham and melon, rice salad. Excellent to accompany first courses based on both sea and lake fish, with grilled, baked, salt or boiled but also raw fish courses. It goes well with paella, and it adapts very well to oriental cuisine, also spiced, or with sushi.
