The Chiaretto di Bardolino DOC wine is a rosé, one of the first Italian wines to be awarded a controlled designation of origin, on 21 July 1967.

Every year it is celebrated in Bardolino with the Palio del Chiaretto and in Moniga del Garda with the Italia in Rosa event.

This wine has been linked to Lake Garda since the 19th century, but only in the last 5-10 years has it experienced a surge in production that has doubled to over 10 million bottles.

Chiaretto di Bardolino Doc is a light pink wine tending to cherry, with a balanced perfume of flowers and fruit, and a dry, harmonious, savoury flavour. It is a wine pleasant to the colour, nose and palate, light in structure and elegant.

The more structured and intensely coloured versions, linked to the local tradition, are now preferred to lighter wines, with subtle citrus and floral tones that prevail over the fruity notes of cherry and peach of the more traditional rosés.

Perfect to accompany starters based on cured meats, fish or vegetables. Very suitable for Italian summer dishes such as caprese, ham and melon, and rice salad. Excellent to accompany fish-based first courses, both sea and lake fish, grilled, baked, salted or boiled fish dishes, but also raw. It goes well with paella, and is very well suited to oriental cuisine, even spicy, or with sushi.
