This is the experience offered by the Limonaia del Castel lemon house in Limone sul Garda, returned to the public after decades of disuse and now one of the most precious testimonies of this centuries-old Garda art.
Easily reached on foot from the historic centre of Limone sul Garda, the Limonaia del Castel is located between the mountain and via Orti and via Castello. It is well signposted by ceramic signage tiles that can be encountered while strolling through the picturesque alleys of the town.
There are three lemon houses that can be visited, the Tesol lemon house, the lemon house in Via Borghi and the
Limonaia del Castel , the most famous one to see.
Visiting the Limonaia del Castel lemon house in Limone on Lake Garda is a must if you want to breathe in a serene and relaxed air.
Its construction dates back to the early eighteenth century, first owned by the Amadei family, then Bertoni, Patuzzi, Girardi and Polidoro, some of the wealthiest families in the area.
The visit lasts about half an hour and allows visitors to admire the various fruits cultivated today: not only lemons but also citrons, grapefruits, mandarins, chinottos, clementines and kumquats. Explanatory panels narrate the history of the lemon house and illustrate the characteristics of the different types of citrus fruits.
